How to Work With A Writer
What makes an editor a dream editor (at least from a writer's point of view)? What makes an editor less than writer-friendly? What do writers expect from editors? What do editors have the right to expect from writers? What types of magic can result when writers and editors are on the same page, both literally and figuratively? Ann Douglas will share her experiences and insights from the writer's side of the desk during this lively yet idea-packed presentation.

Blissdom Canada
October 13-15, 2011
Toronto, Ontario
Blissdom Canada is Canada’s first and only social media conference for women, by women; it’s an exploration and celebration of how, why, and in what ways women use the Internet and other digital tools to pursue, achieve and hold on to their bliss. Women from across North America will gather to discuss what it means to be a Canadian woman networking, publishing and pursuing both business and pleasure in a borderless online world. All this, and plenty of opportunity for fun, frolic and friendship, under the bright red maple leaves of autumn in Canada’s largest city.
Ann Douglas will be moderating a no-holds-barred panel on writing and publishing: one that answers questions that other similar panels shy away from: "To Publish or Not to Publish: Taking Your Writing Beyond the Blog -- Or Not." Session description: Where are you going with your craft? Is your long-term plan to get your words between the covers of a book, or on the pages of a magazine, or in a newspaper column? Does success as writer mean getting into traditional print, or have times changed such that the printed page – or the e-reader page – matters less to that success? How has digital media changed the publishing landscape, anyway? These panelists have looked at writing and publishing from all sides, and will share their insights into the why’s, how’s and wherefore’s of traditional and new media publishing, and what it means for your career. Co-panelists: Jen Reynolds (Canadian Family), Theresa Albert (Author), Nadine Silverthorne (Today's Parent).
